Brief history of wardrobe
The word wardrobe has a long and varied history. Geoffrey
Chaucer used it to mean a lavatory, and for some time it signified not a piece
of furniture but a room or apartment; in medieval England, for instance, the
king’s wardrobe was the centre of a good deal of administrative machinery.
The
actual piece of furniture in which clothes were kept was originally known as a
press, and at quite an early date its division into two parts—one for hanging
garments, the other for laying them out flat—became established. By the 17th
century the word wardrobe was coming to be accepted as descriptive of this kind
of piece, while the earlier emphasis on heavy carvings on and surrounding the
doors was being supplanted by elaborate veneers

HOW TO USE COLORS TO CHANGE THE SIZE OF YOUR ROOM

- If you want to lower your ceiling, but don’t want to employ a builder, then don’t, employ a painter instead. By painting your ceiling a dark color you automatically perceive that it is lower. That is because dark colors advance.
- So if you want to make your ceiling appear higher, paint it in a light color – preferably white.It seems so simple and it is.
- In general to make walls advance towards you, paint them a dark color. To make them recede away from you, paint them a light color. Warm colors advance.
- If you have a rectangular room and want to make it look square, then paint the two smaller end walls a darker color and have the long walls a light color. This will bring the end walls forward and make the room appear more symmetrical.

Bedroom flooring selection is often dependent on the climate, as well as your taste. In New Zealand – most of the South Islanders have carpet on their bedroom floor because it is warm underfoot which is wonderful in the winter as it gets very cold.
The opposite can apply to the North Island where it is hotter and more humid, therefore hard flooring is often a better option, cooler underfoot and reduces the risk of the carpet getting damp in the humidity.
